Regardless of who changes your transmission fluid, you should know how to check it from time to time. If you have an automatic transmission, it likely came with a special dipstick, one that's different from your oil dipstick. Keep the car running (your manual will tell you whether the car should be in neutral or park) and smell the fluid when you remove the dipstick from the transmission.
